Okay, so here’s the deal with this CopyOMEGA Ω Co-Axial Master Chronometer Chronograph 45.5mm thing.
I saw this watch online, a copy of an Omega, and I thought, “Why not?” I’ve always liked the look of those fancy watches, but, you know, they cost more than my car. So, I decided to go for it. I found a few websites that looked alright, nothing too shady, and placed an order. I don’t know. Maybe I should have seen some warning signs, but I went for it anyway.
I started to do a bit more digging around. I mean, I wanted to know what I was getting myself into. They say it’s got this “Co-Axial Master Chronometer” thing. Sounds complicated, right? Like something a rocket scientist would talk about. But I’m no scientist. Anyway, it also says “Manual winding chronograph with column wheel mechanism and Co-Axial escapement,” whatever that means. And “Master Chronometer certified and approved by METAS.” I didn’t even know what METAS was! I was really flying blind.
I did learn it’s supposed to have some kind of special movement inside, called the “Co-Axial Master Chronometer Calibre 1932.” I started checking out all the features. The movement is made up of who knows what and has all these tiny parts. I looked at some pictures, and it’s pretty intricate. Lots of gears and things. They say this Calibre 1932 is a big deal.
- Manual winding
- Chronograph (which I guess is just a fancy word for stopwatch)
- Column wheel mechanism (no idea)
- Co-Axial escapement (still no idea)
- “Master Chronometer” certified by something called METAS
Then there’s something called the “Omega Master Co-Axial caliber 9904.” I saw some numbers like “28,000 vph (4Hz)” and “54 Jewels.” I guess more jewels are good? And it says it has a “power reserve of 60 hours.” I assume that means it can run for 60 hours without winding. These are the sorts of features they brag about.
One site said it was “Used (Very good)” with the original box and papers for like 6 bucks. Another listed it as “New,” year of production 2025 (which is in the future, so that’s weird), also with the original box and papers. There are different variations, with different numbers and names. I guess they make different versions of this copycat watch.
What I Found Out
It’s a copy: Not a real Omega, but it looks like one. They even call it the same name and everything, “CopyOMEGA Ω Co-Axial Master Chronometer Chronograph 45.5mm.”
It’s got some fancy-sounding stuff inside: All those “Co-Axial” and “Master Chronometer” things. I don’t really get it, but it sounds impressive.
It’s cheap (relatively): Way cheaper than a real Omega, that’s for sure.
So, yeah, that’s my story about this CopyOMEGA Ω Co-Axial Master Chronometer Chronograph 45.5mm watch. I got it, I looked into it, and now I’m sharing what I found. It’s a wild world out there in the land of replica watches. Do I regret it? Maybe a little. But hey, at least I didn’t spend thousands on the real deal!
