This year, my old man, he said he wanted a Rolex, that shiny watch, you know? The one they call the Black Submariner. He said, “I want a fancy watch, a Rolex Black Submariner.” I said, “Where are you gonna find a real Rolex around here?” I told him, them real Rolex, they cost more than our whole house! He just laughed. Says he’s seen some that look just like the real deal, but cost way less. I said, “Boy, you talkin’ about them fakes?” He just grinned.
So, we started lookin’. We went down to the market, you know, where they sell everything under the sun. I asked around. “Where can I find a good fake Rolex, especially that black one, the Rolex Black Submariner?” Some people, they just shake their heads. But one fella, he points us to a little shop tucked away in a corner. That’s where we found the “Rolex Black Submariner”.
Now, this shop, it’s filled with all kinds of watches. But my old man, he’s got his eye on that Rolex Black Submariner. He says, “That’s the one I want.” They call it a “high imitation” or “replica,” whatever that means. Looks just like the pictures, shiny and black. They even call them “super clones,” they are so good.
They had lots of fancy words, but all we wanted to know was, does it look like a Rolex, and does it tell time? This guy, he’s showin’ us all the details. Said this “high imitation Rolex” has it all. He said, “Look here, it even feels heavy, just like a real Rolex.” I picked it up, and yeah, it did have some weight to it, not like those cheap plastic watches. But how do we know for sure? I did some lookin’ around before.
I heard you gotta look close at these things. Here’s what they told me:
- Weight: Those real Rolex watches, they’re heavy. This fake one, it felt kinda heavy too, but I don’t know. They say the real ones are about 1.57 inches big.
- Numbers: The real Rolex, they got these tiny numbers on ’em. This one had some numbers too, but I couldn’t tell if they were the same. I needed a magnifying glass!
- Tickin’: I heard the real ones, the second hand moves smooth, not tick-tick-tick. This one, it was kinda smooth, I guess. Hard to tell for an old lady like me.
My old man, he’s just starin’ at the Rolex Black Submariner. He’s in love. I said, “Are you sure about this? It’s still a lot of money for a fake.” He says, “It’s the closest I’ll ever get to a real one.” I told him, we don’t need a Rolex to know what time it is, but he won’t listen. These specialty stores sellin’ high imitation, they know what they’re doin’. They make ’em look so real, it’s scary.
There are some good sellers out there. I heard about a place called “Prestige” something. They said they sell good “super clone” watches. But we are here now, and my old man wants this Rolex Black Submariner.
He tried it on. It looked good on his wrist, I gotta admit. Shiny and black, just like he wanted. He kept turnin’ his wrist, lookin’ at it from all angles. I asked the shop guy, “How long will this thing last?” He said, “If you take care of it, it’ll last a good long time.” What does that even mean?
I still had my doubts, but he was set on it. “This high imitation Rolex Black Submariner is good enough for me,” he said. I just hope it doesn’t break down after a week. I told him, “You better not come cryin’ to me when that thing stops workin’.” He just laughed and said, “Don’t worry, it’s a quality fake!”
So, he bought it. Paid a good chunk of money for that fake Rolex. He walked out of that store grinnin’ like a fool. He’s been wearin’ it every day since. Shows it off to everyone. “Look at my Rolex,” he says. I just shake my head. Men and their toys. But I gotta admit, it does look good. Even I sometimes forget it’s not a real Rolex Black Submariner. These specialty stores, they make it hard to tell the difference.
Now, if you’re thinkin’ about gettin’ one of these high imitation Rolex watches, especially that black one, the Rolex Black Submariner, you gotta be careful. There’s a lot of fakes out there. Some are good, some are bad. You gotta know what to look for. And remember, it’s still a fake, no matter how good it looks.
But if you’re like my old man, and you just gotta have that Rolex look, even if it’s not the real deal, then maybe a high imitation is for you. Just do your homework, find a good specialty store, and don’t get ripped off. And don’t go around tellin’ everyone it’s a real Rolex. Someone might just call you out on it. Like me, I keep tellin’ my old man, “It’s a nice watch, but it ain’t no real Rolex.” He just winks and says, “But it’s close enough!”
These specialty stores, sellin’ high imitation, they got a good thing goin’. They know folks like us, we want the look, but we can’t afford the real thing. This Rolex Black Submariner, it’s a dream for many. And these fakes, they make that dream a little more real, I guess. Even if it is just a little bit. Just don’t get any ideas that it is a real Rolex, just because it is a good fake, okay? This high imitation stuff, it is what it is, a good-looking fake. Nothing more, nothing less.
