So, I’ve been thinking about getting a new watch lately, and you know how it is, once you start looking, it’s hard to stop. I’ve always had a soft spot for the Omega Speedmaster Professional Moonwatch. I mean, it’s a classic, right? It went to the moon! Anyway, I finally decided to pull the trigger, but I wanted something a bit special.
I started by looking for official Omega stores. I found a few in my city, made a list of them, and planned my route. I love the feeling of visiting these kinds of stores, you know?
I visited the first store, talked to the salesperson, and checked out their collection. The watches were amazing. They had a few different models of the Speedmaster, but I was looking for something specific – the one with the sapphire crystal, they call it the “Sapphire Sandwich.” It’s a bit fancier because you can see the movement through the back of the watch.
Went to the second store, had a similar experience, but they didn’t have the exact model I wanted in stock. They said they could order it, but I wanted to see it in person first. You know me I like to try things on before I buy them. So, I thanked them and moved on to the third store on my list.
The third store was the charm! They had the Speedmaster Professional Moonwatch with the sapphire crystal, and let me tell you, it was even more beautiful in person. It’s got a 42mm case, which is a good size for my wrist, and it’s 13mm thick. The hands and indexes have this Super-LumiNova stuff, so they glow in the dark, which is pretty cool. And the movement inside, the Caliber 3861, is a hand-wound one, which I like. It feels more… connected, you know?
- Tried the watch on, and it fit perfectly.
- Looked at it from every angle, admiring the craftsmanship.
- Asked the salesperson a few more questions about the movement and the warranty.
After spending some time admiring it, I decided I had to have it. I paid for the watch, got all the paperwork sorted, and walked out of the store with a big smile on my face.
Now I’ve got this beautiful timepiece on my wrist, and I can’t stop looking at it. It’s a great feeling to finally own a piece of history like the Speedmaster, especially this “Sapphire Sandwich” version. It is so cool.
