Okay, so I’ve been eyeing this OMEGA Speedmaster 310.92.44.50.01.001, the Apollo 8 “Dark Side of the Moon” edition, for a while now. I mean, who wouldn’t want a piece of the moon, or at least something that looks like it, on their wrist? Today, I finally decided to make my way to the specialty store to check it out in person.
First off, getting to the store was a bit of a hassle. It’s one of those high-end places tucked away in a fancy part of town. But, I managed. Once I stepped inside, it was like entering a different world. Everything was so sleek and polished, it kind of made me feel like I should’ve worn something nicer than my usual jeans and t-shirt combo.
I spotted the watch in a display case, and it was even more impressive up close. The salesperson, a guy who looked like he knew everything about watches, came over. He was really helpful, explaining all the features. He told me the 3869 movement inside is pretty much like the 3861 but has this cool laser ablation thing on the dial that makes it look like the surface of the moon. And the back? It’s designed to mimic the far side of the moon. Pretty neat, huh?

- Design: It’s eye-catching, to say the least. I guess OMEGA wanted to offer something that fits different styles.
- Warranty: All watches come with a 5-year warranty, so that’s a relief.
I spent a good amount of time just admiring the watch. The salesperson was cool about it, not pushy at all. He even mentioned they have online catalogs and social media stuff, but honestly, I was too focused on the watch to care about that.
Trying it on was the real test. It felt substantial, but not too heavy. The strap was comfortable, and it just looked so darn good on my wrist. I could picture myself wearing it every day, maybe even to space if I ever get the chance. They also have different color options, which is nice, but the dark side of the moon theme was calling me name.
After a lot of back and forth in my head, I decided to go for it. It’s not every day you buy a watch that’s inspired by the moon, right? The whole process of buying it was smooth. The salesperson handled everything, and I walked out of there feeling like a million bucks.
So, that’s my story of getting the OMEGA Speedmaster Apollo 8. It was quite the experience, from the journey to the store to finally having it on my wrist. Now, every time I check the time, I’ll be reminded of the moon, space, and all that good stuff. Pretty cool, if you ask me.
