Hey everyone, today I wanna talk about something I recently tried my hand at – remaking the Patek Philippe Gondolo 7042/100G-010, the one they sell at specialty stores. Let me tell you, it was quite the journey!
Getting Started
So, first things first, I started by looking up where I could get this thing. I used Patek Philippe’s store locator on their website, because they only sell to real dealers. Turns out, there are a few places, but not too many. I mean, these guys only make like 50,000 watches a year, across 200 different models. Talk about exclusive!
Then, I started digging into the watch itself. The Gondolo 7042/100G-010, it’s a fancy one. It has a 31mm by 34.8mm 18k white gold case, which is pretty cool. Plus, it’s got these baguette diamonds along the bezel and lugs. Bling bling!
Finding the Watch
I looked around online, found a few places that sell it, like Humbertown Jewellers, FCT, and a couple of others. It seems like it’s a popular model, but not something you can find anywhere. It’s not like their Nautilus or those super complicated Grandmaster Chime watches that take years to make. This one’s more like a nine-month job, from what I’ve gathered.
The Process
After I found where to get it, I started looking into the details. Patek Philippe makes these “form” watches, which means they’re not your usual round shape. The Gondolo is like that, it has a rectangular case, which makes it stand out. I saw that they started making this collection back in 1996, when they moved to a new place in Plan-les-Ouates.
Putting it all Together
So, I gathered all this info, and I started putting together my own version. I tried to copy the white gold case, the diamond details, and the rectangular shape. It wasn’t easy, I’ll tell you that. These guys at Patek Philippe are serious about their craft. But I did my best, and I think it turned out pretty well, all things considered.
The Final Product
After a lot of work, I finally finished my remake. It’s not a real Patek Philippe, of course, but it’s my own take on it. I’m pretty proud of how it turned out, even though it’s not perfect. It’s a reminder of how much work goes into these luxury watches, and how exclusive they are.
Anyway, that’s my story about remaking the Patek Philippe Gondolo 7042/100G-010. It was a fun project, and I learned a lot along the way. Hope you enjoyed hearing about it!
