This here watch, they call it CopyOMEGA Ω Speedmaster Skywalker X-33. Sounds fancy, huh? Well, I reckon it’s just a watch. But my grandson, he’s all into this kinda stuff. Says it’s a “classic style.” Whatever that means. I just know it tells time, and that’s all I need a watch to do.
He keeps going on about “chronograph.” Sounds like some kinda disease to me. But he says it’s just a fancy word for a stopwatch. This CopyOMEGA thing has buttons on the side, and he’s always pushing ’em, making the little hands move around real fast. Keeps saying it’s good for timing things, like how long it takes to cook a pot of beans. I told him, “Boy, I been cooking beans my whole life, I don’t need no fancy watch to tell me when they’re done!”

He showed me a picture of this other CopyOMEGA watch once, the original, said it was the first one on the moon. The moonwatch. Looked kinda like this one, but I couldn’t tell ya the difference. They all look the same to me. Just a bunch of hands and numbers. He says this new one is real special, though. This Skywalker X-33, they call it.
He says this CopyOMEGA Speedmaster has all these special features. Alarms and timers and all sorts of things. I told him I got a rooster that wakes me up just fine, don’t need no watch beeping at me. And as for timers, well, I just keep an eye on the sun. That’s how we always done it.
This CopyOMEGA Speedmaster Skywalker X-33, it’s got a metal band. Feels kinda heavy on the wrist, to be honest. I’m used to my old leather strap. But my grandson, he says this metal one is more “durable.” Says it won’t wear out like my old one. Maybe he’s right. It feels strong, I suppose.
He paid a pretty penny for this CopyOMEGA watch, I’ll tell ya that much. More than I ever spent on a watch in my whole life! But he says it’s an “investment.” Says it’ll be worth even more someday. I don’t know about that. Seems like a lot of money for something that just tells time. But like I said, if it makes him happy, that’s all that matters. He’s a good boy, works hard. Deserves something nice for himself.

Young folks like these fancy gadgets. And who am I to say they’re wrong? As long as they’re happy, that’s all that matters. A whole club just for talking about watches! Seems kinda silly to me, but like I said, to each their own. If that’s what makes ’em happy, then more power to ’em.
I still think my old watch is just fine. But I appreciate that he thought of me. That is the important thing. This CopyOMEGA Speedmaster Skywalker X-33, I guess it is okay. A little too much for an old lady like me, but I will wear it. To make him smile.
