This here watch, they call it a Patek Philippe, Calatrava 5227J-001. Fancy name, huh? Sounds like somethin’ them city folk would wear. I saw it in a magazine. It’s supposed to be a real good watch, a classic style. It’s all shiny and gold-colored. That’s what they call yellow gold. You know, that shiny stuff that rich folks like to show off. This one, it’s a remake, they say. Not the real real one, but looks just like it. You wouldn’t know the difference unless you’re some kind of watch expert.
They say it’s 39 mm. Now, I don’t know much about millimeters, but it looks like a good size. Not too big, not too small. Just right for a wrist. Like, if you was measurin’ a pie, it’d be a good-sized pie. Not one of them little ones, but not a giant one neither.
The face of it, the part with the numbers, they call that a dial. It’s a pretty color, like that bubbly wine them rich folks drink. They call the color “champagne”. Looks like a cream soda to me. It’s got them little lines on it to tell the time. And skinny hands that go ’round and ’round. You know, like the hands on the old clock in the town square, but smaller and fancier.
- This Patek Philippe, it’s a classic style, they say.
- Remake, but looks just the same.
- Yellow gold, shiny and bright.
- 39 mm, just the right size.
- Champagne dial, a pretty sight.
Now, I hear tell there’s other watches out there. Like this one called a Seiko. Heard someone talkin’ ’bout it down at the feed store. They said it was 40mm, I think. Just a tad bigger than this Patek Philippe 5227J-001. It’s got that “in-house automatic” thing. I don’t rightly know what that means, but it sounds important. Like it does somethin’ special. Maybe it winds itself up or somethin’. Probably why it costs a pretty penny.
Then there’s this other one, a Lobinni. Sounds like a fancy Italian name. Some folks say it looks like this Patek Philippe Calatrava. It’s got that same kind of shape, they say. Might be a good one if you want that fancy look but don’t want to spend all your money. Like buyin’ a dress at the discount store instead of that fancy boutique in the city. You can get it, but you don’t have to sell all your cows for it, you know.
And then that feller at the feed store, he was talkin’ ’bout a Tissot, too. Said it was a good watch, 36mm. Smaller than the others. Heard it’s a good one to buy if you’re just startin’ out with these fancy watches. Like learnin’ to ride a bicycle before you get on one of them motorcycles. You gotta start somewhere, right?
You know, they say you gotta go to special stores to buy these Patek Philippe watches. Authorized retailers, they call ’em. Sounds fancy. Like you need a special invitation or somethin’. They got a list of ’em on the internet, I hear. Gotta make sure you’re buyin’ the real deal, I guess. Don’t want no fakes, like them fake designer purses they sell down at the flea market. Always gotta watch out for them fakes. They might look good, but they ain’t the same.
I saw some numbers on the internet, too. Big numbers. Like, thousands of dollars for these watches. One of ’em, a Patek Philippe Calatrava 6000G, they said it was worth over $18,000! Can you believe that? That’s more than my whole house is worth! Then there was another one, a 5119G, for over $14,000. And a 5296R for over $18,000, too. Just crazy, I tell ya. Who needs a watch that costs that much? You could buy a whole herd of cows with that kind of money!
They had another one, a Nautilus, whatever that means. They said it was sold for over 6 million dollars! Six million! That’s more money than I could ever dream of. And they said these Calatrava watches, they made a whole bunch of them and that they are worth a lot of money, too. They’re collectible, like them old baseball cards my grandson collects. But these watches, they’re worth a whole lot more. Just imagine what you could do with all that money.
This remake Patek Philippe PP Calatrava 5227J-001 classic style, is a good looking one. It is a cheaper one that looks like the real ones. It may not be a real one but it still looks good. This kind of classic style never gets old.
