Hey everyone, it’s your boy back again with another project. So, I saw this cool PRADA tote bag the other day, the one with the triangle logo, and I thought, “I can make that!” I mean, why spend a fortune when you can get crafty, right? This is gonna be a fun ride, so buckle up and let’s get started!
First things first, I gathered my materials. I dug out some old, thick canvas fabric from my stash – you know, the kind that can withstand a hurricane. I also grabbed a ruler, some tailor’s chalk, scissors, and my trusty sewing machine. For the logo, I decided to use a piece of faux leather I had lying around. It’s not the real deal, but it looks pretty darn close.
Next, I measured and cut the canvas. I wanted a decent-sized tote, so I went with two large rectangles for the main body, about 16×14 inches each. Then, I cut two long strips for the handles, around 24 inches long and 3 inches wide. I made sure to double-check my measurements because, you know, measure twice, cut once!
With the canvas ready, I moved on to the logo. I sketched out that iconic PRADA triangle on the faux leather. It took a few tries to get it right – my triangles were looking a bit wonky at first. But hey, practice makes perfect! Once I was happy with the shape, I carefully cut it out.
Now, the sewing part. This is where things get real. I pinned the two main canvas pieces together, right sides facing each other, and stitched along three sides, leaving the top open. I reinforced the seams with a backstitch because I wanted this bag to be sturdy. No flimsy stuff here!
For the handles, I folded each strip in half lengthwise, right sides together, and stitched along the long edge. Then, I turned them right side out, which was a bit of a struggle, I won’t lie. A safety pin helps a lot. Once that was done, I topstitched along the edges to give them a nice, clean look.
Attaching the handles was the next step. I positioned them on the inside of the bag, about 4 inches from the side seams, and pinned them in place. Then, I stitched them securely, making sure to go over the stitches a few times. You don’t want those handles giving out when you’re carrying your groceries!
Finally, the moment of truth – attaching the logo. I centered the faux leather triangle on the front of the bag and pinned it down. Then, using a small zig-zag stitch, I carefully sewed it in place. This part was a bit nerve-wracking because I didn’t want to mess up the logo. Slow and steady wins the race!
And there you have it – my very own “PRADA” logo tote bag! It’s not perfect, but I’m super proud of it. It’s got that handmade charm, you know? Plus, I saved a ton of money. This baby is gonna be my go-to bag for everything. Farmers market? Check. Beach day? Check. Showing off my DIY skills? Double-check!
