Okay, so, I’ve been wanting to share this for a while now. I finally got around to remaking the Patek Philippe Nautilus 5712, specifically for specialty stores. You know, those fancy boutiques that need something unique on display? That’s what I aimed for.

I started by researching the original 5712 models. Turns out, Patek Philippe discontinued the leather strap versions, the 5712R and 5712G, leaving only the bracelet version, the 5712/1A. I found out that the white gold 5712G-001, which they made from 2006 to 2024, was one of the first three in the 5712 series. Just like the rose gold model, that’s cool. Those are the ones I was most interested in replicating.

Then, I looked for prices online. Man, these things are expensive! I saw a bunch of 5712/1A models on some watch website, going for, like, $119,000 to over $128,000. The rose gold 5712/1R? Even pricier, over $215,000! Crazy, right?

I dug deeper into the design. Patek Philippe really knows how to make a watch look good. They took the sporty Nautilus, like the 5712-1R-001, and gave it a rose gold case with a brown dial. The dial has this cool sunburst pattern with a dark edge. It’s super elegant.

The movement is another thing. It’s an automatic caliber 240 PS IRM C LU. Sounds complicated, but basically, it’s a self-winding movement that’s water-resistant up to 60 meters. It shows the date and the moon phase. I tried my best to recreate that intricate dial with all those extra features. Oh, and it’s got a power reserve, too, which is handy.

For my remake, I focused on capturing that luxurious feel. I used a good quality case to make it look fancy. It took a lot of trial and error to get the dial right. I wanted it to look just as detailed as the real thing.

  • First, I studied a bunch of pictures and videos of the real 5712.
  • Then, I got all the materials I needed. This took some time, had to order some stuff online and wait.
  • Next, I started putting it all together. This was the hardest part, obviously.
  • I went through a few prototypes before I was happy with the result. A lot of prototypes.
  • Finally, I had something that I thought looked pretty good.

The final product is something I’m really proud of. It’s not a perfect copy, but it definitely captures the spirit of the original Nautilus 5712. It’s a watch that I think would look great in any specialty store. If you want a good Patek Philippe remake, you should look for a Calatrava model. The 5227R-001 is a good one if you’ve got the money. Or maybe the 5227J-001, which is a remake. Make sure you do your research before you buy one of those, though.

So yeah, that’s my story. It took a lot of work, but I’m really happy with how it turned out. I hope you guys like it too! Let me know what you think in the comments. I’m curious to see if you think I did a decent job on it.
